Owning a
duvet or a down comforter can be a bit hard because it is difficult to wash it. You get stains
and dirt on the duvet and you think that you’re stuck with filthy beddings.
However,
you need not fret any longer because that’s what duvet covers are for, and a great style is the
damask duvet cover.
In a
nutshell, duvet covers are made to wrap duvets. Broken down, they actually do two things for
your duvet. First, they protect your beddings from dirt, stains, and dust.
Second,
they serve as decoration in your bedroom. Isn’t it great to know that you won’t have to suffer
from a dirty duvet?

Duvet covers come in many different designs and colors.
There are even some covers that are reversible. A certain pattern that always catches people’s eyes is the
damask pattern. Damask duvet covers are really attractive by the nature of their designs.
Damask patterns are usually botanical or geometric in
theme. However, there are also damask duvet covers that have animals or simple scenes weaved into
them.
Silk thread was originally used to weave damask cloth. But these days, you will find your
damask duvet covers made from different materials. The most common materials used to make the covers are:
cotton, linen, and wool.
There are also some covers that are made from synthetic materials. Damask covers made from
synthetic fibers are more durable than those made from organic fibers, but are a bit expensive.
Damask duvets and duvet
covers can be bought online from tons of online sellers. These simple covers can come a bit pricey, so it is
best if you have a few guidelines to follow before making that final purchase.

First of all, know the size of your down comforter. Your
duvet cover needs to be of the same size as your down comforter and that’s for an obvious
reason.
Your down comforter has to be encased in the damask duvet
cover. A loose cover is not a good idea and a too tight cover can shorten the life of your duvet
cover.
Second thing to keep in
mind is the type of closure you want for your duvet cover. You have the choices to button, zip or tie. Buttoning
up your damask duvet cover may be a bit cumbersome if you have a large down comforter.
Tying your duvet cover
close can also be a bit of work. Zipping it close may be the best way to go. This aspect may add to the
aesthetics of the cover or it may be an unnecessary concern. In the end, it’s your choice.
Speaking of aesthetics, the
material used to make the damask duvet cover actually plays a role in this area. However, for those with budget
constraints, you may need to compromise a bit with the material. This brings us to our last point.
Using synthetic fiber
cloths do not really take away from the visual aesthetics of the cover. It’s when you touch it that you will
feel the difference. Just remember that the more luxurious the fabric (e.g. silk), the more expensive the cover
will be.
You can buy damask duvet
covers as one piece or as part of a bedroom set, and we highlight the Sin in Linen duvet cover on the next page.
Damask duvets and duvet covers are really
wonderful additions to your bedroom.
They not only protect your
down comforter but they also add to the interior of the room. They may be additional expenses, but they can also
be considered long term investments.
